Week 1473
This reflection is likely to lack some detail as I am writing it just shy of a week late…
Syd and I went downtown for the first time in a hot minute on Sunday to visit Spirit of Japan and got to try lots of good food.
Syd also got to experience why I want to learn Japanese before going back to Japan when I said 美味しいです! to some of the vendors and it put the biggest smiles on their faces.
We then walked around the Dairy Block trying to find the stairs to where we parked, seeing a randomly large amount of dachshunds along the way—one of which accidentally got hit by a stroller containing two more before it got smacked by the door on the way into the hotel.
No weiner dogs were hurt (to our knowledge), in the making of that comic scene.
As karma for my laughter at the poor weiner dog, my phone died and we had to pay $75 to exit the parking garage… I still have to see if I was refunded once I charged my phone and sent them the parking pass I had bought…
Monday I had to work in Fort Collins and got a breakfast burrito from my favorite place to get them, Matador. Chorizo breakfast burrito with eggs and potato on a jalapeno cheddar tortilla with queso, maple jalapeno salsa, and cheese. Try it, it’ll change ya life.
My week at work was ridiculously busy but I made it to the other side.
I had a dermatology appointment on Friday to check my skin and make sure none of my moles are cancerous and passed that test with flying colors. Always awkward meeting someone for the first time after you’ve been told to strip down to your underwear.
I had a great week returning to my 5x a week lifting cycle.
My feet were super sore because I walked too much in barefoot shoes (vivo barefoot Motus and whatever the weatherproof trail shoes are called).
My in-laws visited Saturday/Sunday/Monday. It’s always funny telling people this as there is an expectation that you are going to hate your in-laws for some reason. We really enjoy spending time with them.
They are respectful to us and our time, are genuinely interested in what is going on in our lives, and like to eat, play video games, and play cards with us. They are kind and caring people and are really good to us.
They drove out here to deliver a picture that Syd got for Christmas last year and finally got to meet our newest dog, Ellie. She was a big ham and everybody needed plenty of pets.
We went to eat at White Pie in Denver on Saturday. The pizza here was delicious. We got the White Pie (it was good, I just didn’t need to have the egg on it), a pepperoni pizza, and a meat lovers. The sausage on the meatlovers was delicious.
Sunday, we went to View House for lunch. The food was pretty mid but the view was nice and the weather was great.
We went back to the hotel and Syd’s dad went nill 3 times in a row after going set to start the game and her parents beat us yet again in spades. We determined that we play too conservatively because we hate going set.
We went to 801 Chophouse for dinner and we all got great food although the sauce for the shrimp cocktail smacks the shit outta ya. I got the Surf and Turf and it was delicious, although Syd's mom makes better steaks.
The dogs absolutely ate up as much attention as they could on Sunday night and were wrestling like they had been cooped up all weekend (which they had been).
Someone I know has been big slacking on Japanese outside of watching Anime with English subtitles.
