Week 1514

I haven’t found the video since the first time that I watched it but there is a video where Alex Hormozi talks about not simply doing the work at the time that an opportunity presents itself as if you approach life that way, you’ll always miss the opportunity.

Sometimes, that work will be unintentional and sometimes it will be intentional. Regardless of which, both contribute towards the opportunity.

Also, if you’ve read through my content, I’ve likely talked about this when I got the opportunity to record content for Jeremy Ethier. It appears that they determined not to proceed forward with posting that experiment (at least, not that I have seen), but it was still awesome to be chosen after months of preparation.

I am writing about this as I got an amazing opportunity at work this week that I am excited to take on. I have a lot of learning ahead of me but I believe it’s the right level of discomfort to help me grow.

I was much better about Wanikani this week and have noticed that when I am doing Wanikani or Bunpro, the level of intentionality I have to bring makes me want to distract myself.

This is most prevalent during my Japanese study and I think it is because of how quickly it exhausts me.

With that, I am doing my Wanikani sessions straight through (easy) and I am breaking Bunpro up.

I have also found that Bunpro seems to be a lot more helpful with listening comprehension so I am going to be bringing more intentionality into the coming week with doing vocabulary and grammar daily.

If there’s one thing I’ve been really good at, it's immersion time. I finished Hunter Hunter and just started Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood today.

Here is my snapshot of last week:

So much of my energy this past week was tied up into my work that I am struggling to recall what I did in my personal life.

That could also be due to me pouring a lot of my time into thinking about how Syd and I are going to build out our basement gym and getting the right equipment for the space.

After going to PWRBLD in Philly, I have learned how much I appreciate the attention to detail and intention that goes into a great gym and have found that lacking in corporate gyms - intention being replaced with convenience and, I’m sure, brand partnerships.

While I have nothing against structuring gyms in an easy-to-replicate format for franchising, it removes the, dare I say, vibes.

I’m looking forward to building my own space.

One thing that I do remember is how much Syd did this weekend with cleaning and reorganizing the house. I greatly appreciate her.
